There are literally hundreds of different musical instruments that a person can learn to master, but too often than not, many forget about the most important musical instrument of them all; their voice.

The human voice is essentially our species’ earliest known musical instrument, and it is capable of an incredible array of harmonies and melodies. Sadly, for whatever reason, many think it is more important to practice playing the guitar than it is to learn how to sing.

Parody*

Parody is a humorous imitation of a person, event, song or serious piece of writing. I have a great time when I use this technique in a presentation and so do the audience members.

The way I use it is to change the words of a recognizable song. I get the audience members to sing along with me by putting the words in their handouts or giving out a song sheet. (The latter method keeps the whole segment hidden so I can surprise them.) I get the words to customize the song from my pre-program research.

Simply take any recognizable tune, change the words, and sing it yourself or get the audience to sing along.

Psalm 149: 5 Let the Godly one exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds.

Morning is breaking and life begins a fresh and new. Praise burst forth and excitement flows freely. In the morning when you are fresh and new it might be easy to praise and thank God for a bright new start. The challenge is to maintain a conscience contact with God through out the day and into the evening. A sign of spiritual maturity is to sing for joy when you go to bed.

During the course of your day practice staying close to God. Listen to Godly music and meditate on the things of God. The bible tells you to bring captive every thought. It also tells you to think on things, which are pure and Godly. Admittedly, it is not easy to walk close to God all day. It takes work and practice to maintain contact with God throughout the day.

Think about the result of staying in conscience contact with God all day. The bible tells us we will sing for joy on the bed. When you lay your head down and look back on the day you will sing for joy because God has been so good to you. Count the blessings of the day and sing for joy. Think about what God has done for you and how He has protected you and blessed you throughout the day. When you realize His love and care, you can’t help but sing with joy on your bed.

He is an awesome God and His love is beyond your comprehension. Sing for joy on your bed when you think about His son Jesus whom He provided as a substitute just for you.

Prayer Focus: Lord God help me to maintain a close contact with you all day. I want to sing for joy upon my bed.
